SAN MATEO, Calif. - May 20, 2003 - EGI (EGI), Inc., a leading global provider of eBusiness data and process integration solutions to enterprise and government organizations, today announced that they have been chosen by Teradiant Networks, Inc. ("Teradiant") to provide their Silicon Bring-up Management (SBM) application to manage the time critical validation test process. The application is designed to improve productivity through collaboration and information sharing between onsite and remote test groups and eliminate wasted engineering efforts due to out-of-date information and unnecessary test paths.
Teradiant, a fabless semiconductor company leading the next generation of highly integrated TeraPacket™ Network Processor Engines (NPEs) and Traffic Management chipsets, selected EGI based on their unique capabilities for creating a centralized communication platform for securely tracking and collaborating the complex test activities involved in our Silicon Bring-up process. "Our decision in selecting EGI for providing this application was based on a combination of factors, including, time to market, functionality, performance, ease of customization and deployment," said Shekhar Bhide, Vice President of Software Engineering and Co-Founder of Teradiant.
The SBM application provides an interface for engineers from multiple firms to report and access real-time test results. Leveraging EGI's Electronic Record Management technology, the application enables users to attach documents and document images to test plans, related products and devices. The documents are then managed through their useful life cycle, determining their appropriate access control, availability and access mode (read or write). EGI SBM collects both structured and unstructured data from multiple locations, and the data is processed into a feedback loop to create device status reports, product reports, WIP tracking, and support decision-making in characterization, manufacturing and assembly. By analyzing the real-time data, users can modify, publish and maintain multiple versions of the test plan so that unnecessary tests can be avoided as early as possible. Engineers will no longer work on out-dated data or obsolete tests. EGI SBM improves the efficiency of the interface between the design firm and outsource test companies, reducing the cost of the validation test process, and cutting down the time to bring a new chip to the market.
"SBM is great! I love it," said Mr. Che-Chiu Yee, Senior Manager of Teradiant, "it helps different functions to be closely connected together as one team for the collaboration of new product development"
"We are excited about providing an application that brings such a tangible value to our client," said EGI CEO and Chairman, Edward Cheng. "Our technology and applications were designed specifically to provide semiconductor companies the ability to leverage information for the purpose of enhancing time-critical decision making processes. This is just another example of how our OMM™ architecture really lends itself to highly collaborative functions."
The application enables design firms to manage the validation test process in their own way as part of their competitive advantage. In maximizing efficiency in the test process, a standardized approach in providing a collaborative solution for Silicon Bring-up is not realistic. The EGI SBM uses the patented OMM™ modeling technology to support customization of the online solution based on the way the design firm performs their testing. Systems, design, and test engineers, group managers and other roles are defined flexibly and test process tasks are assigned to them based on their roles. Engineers within the design firm as well as external testers are allowed to access only the data and documents that are authorized to them. EGI SBM also supports configuration and testing of multiple products, each of which may include hundreds of devices. In this highly competitive market, the best financial returns are likely to fall to the companies that can bring up next generation products smoothly and efficiently. EGI SBM creates a sustainable competitive advantage for our customer based on the unique way they perform validation testing.
