EGI Releases New Silicon Bring-up Management Application
New application provides a Collaborative, browser-based Validation Test Management environment

SAN MATEO, Calif. March 7, 2003 -- EGI Technologies today announced the availability of its new Silicon Bring-up Manager (SBM) application. The EGI SBM application is a browser-based workflow automation solution enabling collaboration between the various participants involved in the validation test process. The application is designed to improve productivity through collaboration and information sharing between onsite and remote test groups and eliminate wasted engineering efforts due to out-of-date information and unnecessary test paths.

The SBM application provides an interface for engineers from multiple firms to report and access real-time test results. Leveraging EGI's Electronic Record Management technology, the application enables users to attach documents (XML, MS Office documents and other formats) and document images (design drawings, specification drawings, etc.) to projects, related products and devices. The documents are then managed through their useful life cycle, determining their appropriate access control, availability and access mode (read or write). EGI SBM collects both structured and unstructured data from multiple locations, and the data is processed into a feedback loop to create device status reports, product reports, WIP tracking, and support decision-making in characterization, manufacturing and assembly. By analyzing the real-time data, users can modify, publish and maintain multiple versions of the test plan so that unnecessary tests can be avoided as early as possible. Engineers will no longer work on out-dated data or obsoleted tests. EGI SBM improves the efficiency of the interface between the design firm and outsource test companies, reducing the cost of the validation test process, and cutting down the time to bring a new chip to the market.

The application supports virtual team testing so that test groups from multiple geographic locations can simultaneously access test data and receive test issue alerts. Other features include:

  • Product Plan Management for creating and maintaining a detailed graphical representation of the hierarchical bring-up plan
  • Task Prioritization for monitoring task assignment, performance statistics and scheduling on line test review meetings
  • Resource Allocation for creating a team member organization chart and assigning teams and members to take various roles in the validation test process
  • Process Management for modeling and managing the bring-up process with nested workflow providing automatic or conditional task routing to provide traceability of engineering results
  • Report Module for creating customizable reports providing the specific desired view of different aspects of the test process and enable automatic change notification to team members

The EGI SBM Application is built on EGI's patented Object Modeling and Management™ platform. The OMM™ model is a highly advanced object-oriented approach designed to model and manage data, users and processes within and across enterprises. EGI OMM™ enables an enterprise to model processes and rules, establish relationships between information and resources, and run the automated workflow applications that provide management control for the bring-up test management processes. This powerful eEnabled application makes use of EGI's robust workflow engine designed with rules-based logic that enables the organization to model its unique processes without requiring the processes to be modified to fit the technology. The applications are designed to increase the efficiency of an organization by automating all stages of process management.
